Human Resources and Payroll Specialist
The Human Resources and Payroll Specialist is a strategic, hands-on position responsible for building and leading the HR function and payroll processing across a team of 50 employees. As the direct HR contact for leadership and all employees, the specialist will work with leadership to ensure there is alignment of people strategies with business objectives and provide end-to-end HR support across talent acquisition, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, organizational design, workforce planning, and policy development to drive engagement, productivity, and compliance

The Human Resources and Payroll Specialist is a strategic, hands-on position responsible for building and leading the HR function and payroll processing across a team of 50 employees. As the direct HR contact for leadership and all employees, the specialist will work with leadership to ensure there is alignment of people strategies with business objectives and provide end-to-end HR support across talent acquisition, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, organizational design, workforce planning, and policy development to drive engagement, productivity, and compliance
Responsibilities
- Provide HR partnership, for both strategic and tactical initiatives, day to day HR support and execution of strategies across the business.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with leaders and employees to provide guidance and counsel on a variety of HR and business related issues on both strategic and tactical levels.
- Provide coaching and guidance to managers on performance management, talent development, succession planning, and leadership effectiveness.
- Lead recruitment and onboarding strategy for assigned areas: define role requirements, support hiring managers, ensure positive candidate experience and timely fills.
- Ensure a smooth new hire onboarding process.
- Drive employee engagement and retention initiatives, including surveys, action plans, and targeted interventions.
- Manage employee relations issues: investigate complaints, resolve conflicts, implement corrective action, and ensure consistent, fair treatment, in conjunction with senior management.
- Manage the full compensation life cycle; will use the company’s payroll system, Quanta, to administer payroll on a bi-weekly process. Will be responsible for salary benchmarking, annual merit and bonus planning, pay adjustments, and ensuring alignment with internal equity, market competitiveness, and company compensation philosophy.
- Ensure compliance with labor laws, company policies and HR best practices; maintain accurate HR records and reporting.
- Assist in various HR ad-hoc projects.
- Monitor HR metrics and KPIs, produce regular reports and insights to inform business decision-making and measure HR program effectiveness.
- This role will be in person 5 days a week.
Qualifications
- Undergraduate Degree plus 3-5 years of experience in a relevant role
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must have high standards of customer service
- Must have the ability to exercise good judgement and maintain privacy around confidential information
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite applications
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
- Experience with Quanta/UKG system preferred
